Salesforce Launches Missionforce: A New AI-Driven National Security Unit
On Tuesday, Salesforce announced the creation of Missionforce, a new business unit dedicated to integrating artificial intelligence into defense operations. This initiative will focus on three core areas: personnel management, logistics, and decision-making processes.
Missionforce will be led by Kendall Collins, CEO of Government Cloud at Salesforce. Collins, who joined the company in 2023, has extensive experience in the tech industry, previously serving as the chief business officer and chief of staff to Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
Collins stated, “With Missionforce, we aim to bring cutting-edge AI, cloud, and platform technologies from the private sector to enhance critical areas such as personnel, logistics, and analytics. Our goal is to empower warfighters and their supporting organizations to operate more efficiently and intelligently. It’s a pivotal time to support those who serve.”
Salesforce has maintained longstanding relationships with the U.S. government, providing services across various federal agencies and military branches, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. While the company does not disclose specific contract details or revenue figures from government deals, this move underscores a growing trend of tech companies developing specialized services for governmental use.
Recently, OpenAI also launched a government-focused version of its services, followed by Anthropic and Google, who have similarly tailored their offerings for federal agencies. This reflects an increasing demand for AI-driven solutions in national security and defense sectors.
